The Town and Surrounds

The bustling seaside town of Ulverstone at the mouth of the Leven River is a laid-back getaway with abundant birdlife, family-friendly swimming beaches and for the young-at-heart, the town's water slide is a summer family favourite.

There are also several cycle-ways and walking tracks that crisscross the waterfront and surrounding parklands.

There's good fishing to be had in the river and estuary, or head 7 km upstream for lunch on the riverbank with Leven River Cruises

For the young and young-at-heart, the town's water slide is a summer family favourite, as are the long sandy beaches directly east and west of town.

Ulverstone is also a food and shopping hotspot with cafes that serve up great coffee and seasonal produce, galleries and craft stores that feature the work of local artists, and a wealth of second-hand treasures at the many antique stores and op shops.
